Why a wedding in Italy is honestly just a really good idea

Let’s be real about it – Italy is kind of hard to beat as a wedding destination. Whether you’ve been before or just seen it all over your Insta, it’s one of those places that already feels fun and romantic before you even arrive. I myself, popped down on one knee when visiting the Amalfi coast a few years ago with my (now wife) Gigi. So when it comes to weddings, it’s no surprise so many couples are choosing to hold their wedding there. I’m lucky enough to fly out to Italy half-a-dozen times a year and I utterly love the experience of it all. But…
If you’re on the fence, here’s why getting married in Italy is honestly just a really good idea…
The views are insane
You don’t have to try very hard to find a stunning backdrop in Italy – it’s basically everywhere. One minute you’ve got colourful cliffside villages by the sea, the next it’s rolling countryside covered in vineyards. Whether you want beachy, rustic, or something more elegant, Italy just delivers.

It’s effortlessly cool
Italy has this natural charm that’s hard to explain, but you definitely feel it. The architecture, the little streets, the history – it all adds to the vibe. It makes your wedding feel a bit more special without needing to overdo anything. Like I say, effortlessly cool.

It turns into more than just one day
Destination weddings in Italy usually aren’t just a quick ceremony and done. People come out for a few days, there’s often pre-welcome drinks the night before (which I cover at no extra cost), maybe even a group dinner, and loads of time to actually hang out. It feels more like a mini holiday with your favourite people. Perfetto!

The food (obviously)
This alone is a massive win. You’re not just getting a standard wedding meal – you’re getting proper Italian food. Fresh pasta, amazing pizza, local wines, incredible desserts… your guests will 100% remember the food from sunny Italia.

The venues are next level
Italy has some seriously cool places to get married – think old villas, vineyards, castles, even tiny villages. A lot of them already look amazing, so you don’t need to spend loads trying to make the space look good.

Built-in honeymoon destination?
Once the wedding’s done, you’re already in one of the best countries in the world to explore. You can go straight from wedding mode to honeymoon mode without dealing with extra flights or planning. Easy.

So yeah… why not?
If you like the idea of fresh food, sparkling wine, amazing scenery, and a wedding that feels a bit more relaxed over the course of a couple of days , Italy is definitely worth considering. The weddings that I’ve shot in Italy have always been great fun. Good people, good weather, beautiful places – IMO it’s a total win for everyone.

Bella Italia!
